Process improves how we work

At Apex Information Solutions, we understand that processes improve the way people work. Most disciplines establish best practices and strive to continually improve those processes with the aim of improving the product.

At Apex, our product is the delivery of quality information solutions that satisfy our client's needs. We utilize the best software engineering practices and processes we can find. To achieve our vision, however, we complement our software processes with processes from project management, business, and creativity fields.

Software Process

Our foundation process is Rational Software's Unified Process (RUP), which is a widely recognized software development method. The RUP is use case based and focuses on improving quality via iterative development, managing requirements, and visual modeling.

Project Management Process

The Project Management Institute (PMI) is the premier cross-industry organization for project management process. Apex's project management process starts with the PMI's Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK), which is a compendium of best practices in all industries. We then tailor our approach to include the software practices in the RUP and CMM. Our project management process assures our clients that we can manage the delivery of their solution in a cost effective, risk controlled manner.

Business Process

Successful information solutions fulfill business needs. Software engineering identifies those needs during requirements gathering, but it helps to understande the topic. We include business processes to requirements collection to guarantee that we understand the business gather the complete set of requirements.

Innovation Processes

Creativity and innovation research has identified enabling principles. Solving the client's problem or envisioning the solutions for new market opportunities requires using the processes of innovation. We incorporate into our software development processes the three keys of innovation, immersion in the problem, escape from the problem to allow the mind to work subconsciously, and movement to keep exploring options and avoid fixation on the "first" solution.
